The Wonder Ears™ Parent
Education CD:
Research supports that there
are long term negative effects
of chronic OM associated with
mild/moderate conductive hearing
loss within the “critical
period”. In view of the
important information research
has made available in this
regard; the fact that inadequate
auditory input causes
deleterious effects cannot and
should not be minimized. In
order to forestall the adverse
sequelae, every child who
exhibits hearing loss should
have prudent, effective
intervention.
The
health care industry needs to
meet the challenge of balancing
the cost of doing business with
the greater cost of inadequate
counseling. In an
effort to maximize the
healthcare provider/patient
experience for those who
encounter chronic Otitis Media,
an interactive parent education
compact disk (CD) on the
long-term effects of chronic OM
with hearing loss was developed
as a tool for counseling
parents.
CD
can be used as a “Stand-alone”
counseling tool by:
-
Audiologists
-
Speech/Language Pathologists
-
Otolaryngologists
-
Pediatricians
-
